During Restaurant Week from 18th to 27th June, Slovenian chefs will demonstrate why Slovenia is the 2021 European Region of Gastronomy


The tastiest spring week of the year in Slovenia, which is so good it actually lasts 10 days, is approaching and the epidemiological picture is improving by the day. This year, 99 restaurants ranked in the critics’ choice will take part in Spring Restaurant Week from 18th to 27th June and, in doing so, will proclaim a return to ‘normal’ life in the country.

In 2020, despite the pandemic, over 100,000 guests visited Slovenia’s Restaurant Week in spring and autumn. This year’s Restaurant Week will be even more special, not only because of the normalisation of life after the COVID-19 crisis, but also because of the title European Region of Gastronomy that Slovenia holds in 2021. Restaurant Week will therefore be the first event of the ‘culinary presidency’, when the crème of Slovenia’s restaurants will be able to prove that they are truly up there with the best in Europe.

Booking from 7th June

The European Region of Gastronomy is thus the main theme of Spring Restaurant Week, for which reservations open on 7th June. By that date, the official website www.tedenrestavracija.si will be updated with all the menus – a minimum of three courses – that the chefs will prepare for their most popular presentation.

Logotip Slovenia ERG awarded 2021 modra različica podpis 01Taking into account all the current epidemiological measures, as well as those of the Slovenian Institute for National Health, that will be in force at that time, Slovenia’s restaurants, which have been closed for more than 6 months – since autumn Restaurant Week which ended after eight days due to the epidemic – will be full again. As measures are also being relaxed in neighbouring countries it is becoming increasingly possible to cross borders, thus Restaurant Week will also be an opportunity for foreign guests to return. For them, too, the race for reservations will start on 7th June via the English Restaurant Week website.

Otherwise, its ‘business as usual’. Each participating restaurant will prepare one or more menus with a minimum of three courses and at a set price. The price of the menus is EUR 19, which has remained unchanged since 2019. However, since last year Restaurant Week introduced a supplement for quality at the best rated restaurants (3 and 4 hearts, EUR 6), this year it will be extended to restaurants with two hearts and an additional EUR 2 (price EUR 21).
